Ottawa ABA Academy — Parent Coaching
Parent coaching is a collaborative service designed to help parents feel more confident supporting their child’s development and behaviour at home and in the community.
At Ottawa ABA Academy, our clinicians work directly with parents to teach practical, evidence-based strategies based on the child’s individual needs. Rather than simply working with the child, we empower parents with tools they can use during everyday routines.
Parent coaching may focus on areas such as:
-
Understanding why certain behaviours occur
-
Teaching communication and social skills
-
Supporting independence and daily living skills
-
Managing challenging behaviours safely and effectively
-
Creating consistent routines and expectations at home
-
Using positive reinforcement effectively
-
Helping children develop coping and emotional-regulation skills
-
Supporting skills across home, school, and community settings
-
The goal is not to expect parents to become therapists. Instead, coaching provides parents with practical strategies, guidance, and ongoing support so they can better understand their child and respond consistently in real-life situations.
Through parent coaching, families can build confidence, reduce stress, and create more opportunities for their child to learn and succeed in everyday life.
